Book Club : October

 photo September023_zps66ad9113.jpg

It honestly does not feel like I've been reading a ton of books recently other than education based text books / papers. My current mission to plough through Game of Thrones is failing so miserably (I really need to get into some motivation!) but never the less I thought I'd sum up some reads I've come across in the past month.

Hector and the Search for Happiness by Francois Lelord
I went on a bit of a Waterstones splurge the other week, and I saw Hector and the Search for Happiness in it's bright blue cover glory, and after seeing the trailer for the film and being instantly intrigued, I could not say no to buying the book right there and then. Was it a good read? It was finished within 48 hours (and I was working 11 hour days in between!). I don't want to give too much a way but the happiness lessons, just make you smile, and there is a lot of hidden messages which constantly bring you back in. I've got the next two books in the series on my Christmas list!

Peanuts by Schulz
I remember Scanimation books from when I was younger. It was £12.99 and although short, it was well worth the buy for a Peanuts fan like myself.

'Good Grief' The Genius Of Charlie Brown by Charles Schulz
This book is a compilation of Charlie Brown comic strips. I brought it as I found some funny quips which I want to include in my university work. I'd recommend looking on Amazon and buying the whole set, which includes wisdom from many of the Peanuts gang.

 'F' in Exams
Another education/uni buy but a very funny read!

♥ Vanity Fair - It had Robert Downey Jnr on the front, need I say any more?
♥ Country Living Magazine … was packed full of autumnal inspiration, and a very useful article on foraging.
♥ Stylist - One of my biggest misses about university in london life was getting my Stylist fix from my student union. Luckily I was brought home a copy this week, and it had an amazing article about vitamins and supplements, which I think is going to help my severe fatigue I seem to be suffering from in the past few weeks!

On my to read list next month
♥ To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
♥ The Simple Things magazine - November Issue
♥ The christmas magazine I brought but seemed to crazily misplace!
♥ Recipe books to brush up before Christmas

What have you been reading lately?

Behind the Scenes: The Roost, London

 photo SummerWeek1022_zps69d85fec.jpg
A few months back I attended The Blogcademy Mixer Event which was hosted at The Roost in London. I took some extra snaps of the Roost, which I wanted to share today ( a tad late but better late than never!)

The bird wallpaper was utterly superb! I don't even like the colour blue, but if I could find that wallpaper, I'd decorate my house tomorrow!
 photo SummerWeek1021_zpsb3050682.jpg
Each room in The Roost was themed differently. It was like a grand house full of wonders!
I loved the logs in the fireplace, and in the metal cabinet above.
 photo SummerWeek1019_zpsa00db25d.jpg
I'm all about a collage, so I loved this collage installation here. I'm on the hunt for some old furniture to upcycle like this.
 photo SummerWeek1006_zps8130c032.jpg
The downstairs was quite brightly themed. In the lounge area was chesterfield sofas, and the bar was full of bright colours, including the huge floral lampshade piece. The bar reminded me of a mexican theme, the Fiesta sign above was my favourite.

Gorgeous clothing, which I wish I had someone to buy these for! I was half considering whether Cece could start wearing childrens clothes!

(I badly wanted to take all these crates home with me!)

These brownies were from Bad Brownie Company ... & honestly just woaaaahhh. I had the Bacon & Maple Syrup brownie and it was amazing.

I loved this Canal Boat, even though I couldn't get a better photo. I want to live on a canal boat for sure!

La La Land

 photo September069_zpse73f4327.jpg
When I saw Sarah's giveaway, which included some awesome popcult pencils, I had to go and have a snoop over on La La Land : in a very short amount of time I'd spent £50 on tons of awesome goodies!
First up, the Where does your Garden grow? Necklace ... basically if something has a sunflower on it, I have to buy it as they are my new favourite flower of all time. I just love how huge and bright they are, and sunflowers make such a statement. As soon as my winter wardrobe gets delivered, I'll be pairing this up with many a smock dress!
 photo September070_zpsa6ee038e.jpg
These Game of Thrones Temporary Tattoos were next on my list. Roll on next Spring when Game of Thrones returns to our screens (in the mean time, I will still keep attempting to get through the books whilst avoiding buzzfeeds on facebook revealing storylines!)
 photo September071_zps6012fc0b.jpg
Every girl needs The Notebook especially when Ryan Gosling's beautiful face is on the front.
I also ordered a ton of Popcult Pencils including the Mean Girls, Clueless, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (ahem Kitten Mittens!) and Life of Brian ones. Of course I'll need to start using pencils now!

Competition Wins ... Spring & Summer

 photo September010_zps57d82e4a.jpg
Over the Spring / Summer period, I didn't end up entering as many competitions as I would have liked, but I must say looking back at this post, and everything I've won, I've definitely been really lucky with what I have won! This sums up April through till September (I think!) ... a few bits are missing, and a few wins haven't arrived yet so will include them in my Xmas round up.
 photo September012_zpsa0e9f41f.jpg
One of my more recent wins from the absolute AMAZING Hope and Greenwood ... the packaging was enough for me, but geeeee whizz the treats inside were good! I won the Tuck Box, which rrp is £30 ... the clotted cream fudge was so good, and made me realise, years ago me & my Dad made fudge but thought we'd made it wrong ... we didn't, it's just ours was clotted cream fudge! So now I have my eyes on the Sweets Made Simple cookbook to further my sweet treat making! These cake tins are a treat too!

 photo SummerWeek1026_zps84754be0.jpg
I won a competition of twitter which was a 'magnum' of wine ... turns out to be 9 litres of wine, so a huge thank you to Majestic Wine. We have already drunk 4 bottles, but are saving the last 2 for Xmas & New Year!
 photo Summer3026_zps3992cd52.jpg
I can't find the link to it, but I won this Olay Sugarberry Razor made by Gillette ... honestly it is a fantastic razor and I wouldn't use another razor again after this! The soap bars leave your skin so soft and it's fab for sensitive skin!
 photo DSC_0008_zps52b3346d.jpg
I won The Congress Bundle from Phoenix Picturehouse on Twitter.
 photo 2014-08-25084342_zps2d666783.jpg
I won some black lace underwear in a Curvy Kate competition.
 photo 2014-08-22101639_zpsf96cc5e7.jpg
Some tanning goodies from Superdrug's Twitter feed
 photo Summer3015_zpsa95daed3.jpg
I won this Yorkshire Tea box from Harveys Furniture on Twitter as part of their #yorkshireday competition. I was even more chuffed as Yorkshire Tea is my favourite tea!
 photo Summer3013_zps42f0d096.jpg
Annabelles Wigs ran a competition on Twitter which I won, where I got to pick any wig or hairpiece from their collection. As a lover of the 1920s and Chicago, I was drawn towards their 1920s themed wigs, but they were a bit too short, so I opted for the 1940s Pin Up Lauren Wig. I have loved blonde hair for as long as I can remember, and it is the only colour my hair just won't go... I think my next purchase will be the Crystal Wig as I love the honey colour!
 photo 2014-07-05034559_zps5bd2a546.jpg
I won tickets to see Tom Jones at the British Summer Time at Hyde Park from Living Social

 photo 2014-07-05035032_zps7e363282.jpg
A tote bag from Whistle and Bango , I love the design of this!
 photo Summer1008_zps0f5fa459.jpg
I won these Clean Sheets wipes from animology ... for a long time Cece has been using loads of wonderful products such as the Puppy Love shampoo & Dirty Dawg spray which have been a gods send! Well Clean Sheets were just what we needed for playing in the river or going for muddy walks. They are really thick wipes, and smell lush! Cece loves them!

Superdrug, Gillette & other brands I've won from!

Do you enter competitions... what have you won recently?

Yesterday I hopped on a train up to Oxford Street to go to the #LDNBloggerMeetUp hosted by Lola from Lola's Little Wonders. The meet was at B Soho, which is a cocktail bar & pizzeria… the interior was amazing, and I fell in love with the record clock on the wall, pictured above!
 photo September080_zps04444cfd.jpg
The event was by far one of the best blogger events I've ever been to; I feel like I got to speak to most of the people there, and there were so many quaint little details.
The venue was spot on for me, and I'll definitely be going back to B Soho for cocktails, probably on a regular basis! Tutti Frutti was definitely the favourite amongst the group… next on my list to try is Tommy's Margarita, and happy hour, you can get 4 cocktails for £15, which is a complete bargain for a cocktail, and they tasted delicious.
 photo September089_zps36155246.jpg
The cupcakes for example were wonderful, I loved the fact they had the name on them! Lola went to town as well on the candy bar; sherbert sticks, percy pigs & heart shaped jelly beans went down a treat!
 photo September090_zps75d396fb.jpg
There were marshmallows from Boomf, and I loved the design!
 photo September093_zpsc0709005.jpg
Lola told us in advance to bring a £5 wrapped gift for the tombola; I brought a Stylfile, Benefit Pore Professional Mini, Lip & Cheek Stain & Beauticology Strawberry Shower Gel all wrapped in a yellow paper candy stripe bag. I'm one of those people who gives gifts that have a bit of everything because I can't decide on one thing! I received a Lush Little Snow Fairy gift set, which is one of my favourites! A tombola is such a fabulous idea for an event!
 photo September085_zps83865556.jpg
Throughout the event, there was a competition to win a variety of prizes through Twitter, using the hashtag. I entered for the dog hamper basket from With Love Wilson and luckily I won! Cece was more than pleased with all her treats… the rope toy she spent hours with last night! & I even got a prize, as the basket is now my main make up storage basket!
 photo September096_zpsaa12acf0.jpg

Our goodie bags included gifts from elf Cosmetics, Cocoa Brown Tan & Nanshy which I cannot wait to try out!

A huge thank you to Lola who organised such a brilliant afternoon! I can't wait for the Xmas event if it happens! Also a thank you to all the lovely ladies that attended, the brands that gifted items to the event at With Love Wilson for my hamper!
Lola has wrote a post about how to organise a blogger meet up following yesterdays event. I haven't found any other posts as of yet, but I'll be sure to edit this post, or feature the other lovely bloggers posts in my Happy Monday's series.

Have a lovely evening folks!

The V&A Museum

 photo London127_zps714501c9.jpg
Over the summer, I ticked an item that has been on my bucket list for ages; see Kate Moss' wedding dress at the V&A. I have been to most London museums, but always seem to not get around to seeing the V&A, which is the one I've always wanted to go to!
 photo London081_zps624585b3.jpg
After stepping into the V&A ... well it's enormous! Honestly, we did not get around the whole place, as we got their quite late after visiting many other places in London that day (The CornershopHackney City Farm and Dirty Burger to name a few!).
 photo London090_zps8b2c0e06.jpg
These photos were from the fashion section... can you tell that the 60s was my favourite?
 photo London094_zps22086fbf.jpg
& I definitely want that yellow notebook!
 photo London115_zps1c5e6699.jpg
We explored some of the other sections, a lot of pieces were very Game of Thrones -esque. I was mesmerised by the spiral staircase outside below!
 photo London117_zps0f7600f1.jpg
Unfortunately, you could not take any photos or sketches of the dresses in the wedding exhibition, which I thought was a bit unfair especially as in the gift shop, other than the book on the exhibition which had one photo, of each dress, there was no items to buy, so I sort of have this snapshot of Kate's dress in my mind! I would've been happy if they had a postcard of the dress at least!
 photo London121_zpsaaca6167.jpg

 photo London124_zpsfafa04ad.jpg

The V&A itself was a stunning building. I am definitely going to be visiting again in the near future to have a whole day to look around properly.

What London museums have you been to?
