The Day the Crayons Came Home

The Day the Crayons Came Home was a purchase I made in June ahead of the dreaded Phonics screening this year as a mystery present from my class for all their hard work. The Day the Crayons Quit was the book of the year (so much so I need to re-buy it as it was read so many times!), so when I spotted this sequel, I knew it had to be purchased.

I love this series of books and the clever take it has on story writing combined with letter writing. The Glow in the Dark crayon left me with a class of 30 astonished faces too, and then we went on to write our own letters and postcards as well as story map the original story. I loved too how this book covered geography and still combined letter writing in the form of postcards!  On TES there are great resources for KS1, KS2 and I think it could even stretch to KS3 with some of the features being discussed.
