The Hotel Belvedere, Prague

We stayed in The Hotel Belvedere during our stay in Prague - from the Expedia website, it promised 4* facilities, continental breakfast & being close to the town centre located in Prague 7 for £45 a night. One of the biggest selling points for us was 24 hour reception as our flight was landing pretty late at night! When we arrived I wasn't sure what to expect having stayed in european hotels before which have not delivered the quality or room look that you see on the website, but honestly I was so shocked with how fantastic the room and hotel was as an overall.

The room had a double bed, TV, huge windows, mini bar, tea & coffee. The bathroom had marble sinks, and a power shower which was just as powerful as my last spa jacuzzi shower - I ended up having about 4 showers over a few days just to take advantage! Everything was very self explanatory from how to use the free wifi, where and timings of breakfast, and getting around the hotel itself. It was located on a main road, which had a tram stop outside if you need transport, and many local shops to buy food or drink from.

The breakfast which was included in the price was immense ; enough to fill you up for a whole day and then some more! Continental breakfast made me think of cheeses, hams and maybe some cereal. What was on offer was amazing - there was a table for different types of breads, a table of pastries, doughnuts and apple strudel, porridge, cereal, 3 different types of musli, yoghurts, fruit, salad (yes salad for breakfast!), bread for toasting, a juice bar with 3 different juices, hams, loads of different cheeses including brie and hot food, including sausage, egg, bacon, boiled eggs and beans. There was probably other odd dishes that I've forgotten too. It was a buffet breakfast, so you could literally go up for different courses - for breakfast.

The location was pretty central - it took about 30 minutes to walk to Prague city centre, 45 minutes to walk to the castle and 45 - 60 minutes to walk to Prague Zoo (I did get lost finding the zoo due to many slopes in the park and lack of sign posting at one end!). We walked everywhere, but transport is easy to and from the hotel too.

There was also a bar in the hotel, which was really cheap and served cocktails!
