Last night I was invited along to the launch event for the new MEXIco restaurant in Maidstone ahead of the second branch opening today. The menu is curated by chef Johnny Hernandez who creates the restaurant's vision of authentic mexican food. He has also cooked for President Obama! The decor in the branch was insanely amazing, from the succulents on the tables, artwork on the walls and bright chairs & sofas with artwork.
At the event there were many different tasters being served; my favourite had to be the chicken tostadas (a dish I didn't even realise I'd like). On the menu, there are a wide range of dishes, from sizzling fajita platters, enchiladas, quesadillas & salads - I'm eyeing up chipotle queso burger as I really want to try refried beans! They also brought around mini dessert tasters of churros and brownies which were delicious!
My favourite part of the evening had to be the different cocktails I tested;
Framba Margarita - a frozen raspberry and pink grapefruit, blackcurrant liqueur, citrus and tequila mix
Tropical Margarita - coconut tequila, citrus and pineapple - or as the menu says, if a Pina Colada and a Margarita had a child this would be it!
House Margarita - lemon, lime, agave syrup and tequila
I absolutely loved the house Margarita, and have not stopped raving about how much I want another one since last night!
