Dragworld London Olympia 2017

Earlier today I hopped on the tube along to Olympia London to attend UK Dragworld - literally everyone I know loves a bit of Ru Paul's Drag race, so to attend a convention that hosted some of the show's shiniest stars alongside meeting new talent, and seeing the UK come together to celebrate all things unique and drag was amazing!

The layout included an autograph alley, meet & greet area, stalls, a stage for talks, catwalk for all things lip syncing & entertainment, makeover areas & a ball pit! I loved the decor which included DRAG in huge letters, toy box which was the theme for costumes and we saw some stella costumes including a hamma bead hat with childhood favourites on (Powerpuff Girls were on it, hence why I remember it!), outfits made completely of toys and girls in wigs wearing cardboard doll dress up!

Amongst the beauty stalls were GHD who had a huge trailer pod which housed hair makeovers, NYX  who had a huge make up stand offering 20% off & Beautiful Brows who were doing super fast brow makeovers - I was seriously impressed as I fail most times at doing my brows, but I came home and have ordered a kit because it was so quick and easy!

There were so many merchandise stalls offering a range of souvenirs and merch - each Drag Queen and speaker had their own stall, and many had queues as the queens were at their stalls if they were not at the Meet & Greet area or on stage. The queue for Michelle Visage was insane! I thought it was good that you did not necessarily have to book a meet and greet to see your favourite stars. I loved Carmen Carrera's merch, and with I'd of bought a vest top! There were also other sellers including Rebecca J Higgings with her impressive 'What's the tea?' & 'Not Today Satan' tea cups & Webster Wigs had the most gorgeous selection of wigs in pastel colours!

One of the talks I listened to was 'Gender is Non Binary' featuring Carmen Carrera, Jinx Monsoon. Then I headed for the Catwalk stage, and sat front row (we got there early!) and so glad I did because all of the Lip Syncing performances were fantastic - I loved Klub Kids, I just could not stop laughing, and Meth - because a Disney Villain lip sync performance was superb! Michelle Visage also gave a talk on the Catwalk stage, and she spoke about Self Love (because that's the kind of babe she is!) and how progressive the drag community is, and the UK compared to America. She then did a Q&A and the questions were interesting - Michelle's answers were spot on, and she promised she's campaigning for a UK Drag Race!

I loved my time at Dragworld, and am so glad that I booked a ticket spur of the moment to attend - those attending tomorrow have a fantastic time!
